Gradcast 2009
Making the Graduation Connection for graduates and deployed soldiers has become a tradition in Central Texas. Conditions over the past five years have changed from broadcasting to soldiers who gathered in tents to view the festivities to more modern structures with stable network connectivity. One aspect has remained constant and that is the support for our soldiers. The annual high school graduations from the Bell County Expo Center are truly an example of achieving more by working together. We salute our troops that risk their lives to keep us free. We especially thank our community partners and extended family: Apple Computer, Inc., The Apple Learning Interchange, Azbell Communications, The Bell County Expo Center, Tandberg, Time Warner Cable Business Class, and The United States Army.
Our deployed soldiers are able to participate in an interactive videoconference with their graduate. Media magnification enhances the graduation and grads are able to see their loved ones down range as they accept their diploma. The virtual graduations are being broadcast to nine sites in the Middle East.
Robert Muller, PhD., Superintendent of Killeen Independent School District reminds us of the opportunity to touch the lives and hearts of others as we provide Gradcast to those who are unable to attend the 2009 graduations from the Judge John C. Garth Arena at the Bell County Expo Center. KISD, The United States Army and our Community and Corporate Sponsors join together to support our troops and celebrate high school graduations from Central Texas.
Major General Daniel Bolger, Commander Multinational Division-Baghdad and the 1st Cavalry Division sends words of congratulations to the 2009 graduates. Soldiers make daily sacrifices in the fight for freedom. They are proud of their graduates and wish they could be present for their child's graduations. Technology allows the deployed soldiers to attend graduations virtually. MG Bolger told the graduates that character and moral courage are the two most important values in life. Congratulations to the graduates and their loved ones. "First Team"
On the day of graduation, the live graduation video stream will be in place of the test video.
