Creating a Podcast

The Eastern Lebanon County School District (ELCO) is a rural district in south-central Pennsylvania comprised of approximately 18,000 residents and 2,400 students grades K-12.

During the 2006-2007 school year the district began piloting Superintendent Podcasts, filled with monthly school events or community issues, as a way to better communicate with the district residents.

In 2007-2008, these podcast have continued and are expanding into individual building podcasts. Central office administration, building principals, and classroom teachers are all embracing the use of Podcasts as a means to better commincate the important information that occurs everyday.

The goal of this project is to chart the steps needed to create simple, yet effective, podcast so other school disctricts may replicate what ELCO has found as a successful method of keeping the district's stakeholders informed.
