Global Culminating Projects for Middle & High School Students
View this movie from the Apple Think Ahead event to understand the importance and urgency of creating a 21st-century learning environment.
Students today are creative, mobile, multi-taskers. They also prefer to collaborate on projects as opposed to working alone, and they are very productive.
When students create their own projects, they are more likely to retain what they've learned. Knowing how important it is for students to create their own content, Apple includes a suite of digital authoring tools on every new Mac called iLife. The iLife applications include iPhoto, iMovie, GarageBand, iWeb, and iDVD.
Students can use these applications to create movies, photo books, slideshows, websites, blogs, podcasts, digital music, and more. These tools give students an opportunity to create using the media of their generation. They also learn how to communicate with multiple media types-sounds, pictures, movies, spoken word, text, and so on, which is another important 21st-century skill.
This exhibit will highlight two ways in which students can use the iLife applications to show what they have learned through a global study unit.
