Postcards using Keynote
We used the Instant Alpha effect that is a part of Keynote to create postcards where it looked like the student is standing in front of a view of the national park. I first took pictures of the students posing in front of a plain colored background. (A plain sheet of paper, a colored sheet, or a plain colored wall works well.) The photos were loaded into iPhoto. Then students opened Keynote and dropped an image of the national park onto a Keynote slide. Then they added their photo on top of the national park image. Next they used the Instant Alpha wand to select and erase the background color, leaving only their body showing on top of the picture. It only takes a few simple drags of the mouse to erase the background. It looks like the student is standing in the location. So simple and so effective!
