Crawfordville Elementary is a public school serving kindergarten through 5th grade. We have approximately 650 students. I have 25 students in my class. Most of these students have been together in this school since kindergarten. Many of their parents and grandparents also attended this school, making it a close-knit community.
Seventy-five percent of Wakulla County is National Forest Service land. Seafood and forestry are the only industries in our county and development is limited. Most studentsÂ’ parents work in the neighboring town of Tallahassee, the state capital and a university town.
I have twelve boys and thirteen girls in my class. Three students attend a special education resource room for help with specific learning disabilities. One student participates in the gifted and talented program. All students are mainstreamed into the regular classroom with modifications as needed.
